I have always had a bit of wanderlust- and that desire to wander only escalated when I became interested in photography. Being able to capture explorations just made me want to explore more…and now that I’m married to my best friend? The wanderlust is out the roof! Being able to travel with Joey is a tremendous blessing.
When we decided that I would be living in London for a few months as well, we knew that we had to take advantage of being in a great base to travel. We began discussing various countries we wanted to visit (the list feels endless)- and we decided that we would start with a longer trip to Italy! All of Italy is gorgeous- so instead of deciding on one city to visit, we decided to travel to 3 different cities in 5 days. Joey did an amazing job planning this trip- There’s so much that goes into traveling that I just didn’t realize- and he took care of it all! The timing, the tickets, the transportation, all the little details- He’s wonderful
So on Valentine’s Day morning, we left our flat in London at 4:30 am to catch an express train to Gatwick airport for our first destination- Naples, Italy. After much research, we decided to hire a driver to help us explore the amazing Amalfi Coast- about an hour drive from Naples Airport.
My first view of the Italian Amalfi Coastline was just sheer amazement. Never have I ever seen waters quite so blue, with such adorable colored houses lining the cliffs. My jaw was dropped during most of our windy drive- emphasis on WINDY. I’m so glad I was distracted by my excitement of the sheer beauty- because otherwise I would have been in an anxious craze over the SHEER DROP off the road. Dangerous as it might have been- it was worth it
After spending an hour in Sorrento for the best pizza I’ve ever had (if you know me at all- you know I could eat pizza all day everyday)- we headed to our final destination for the night- Positano.
OH Positano- how we love you. We most definitely could have spent weeks relaxing in this colorful Italian coastline town and been so so happy. We immediately fell in love with the view from our hotel- and could have spent sunrise to sunset on our front patio- it is that beautiful.
We decided to explore this town built on cliffs- and hiked down to the beach and back up a few times during our short trip. It was so fun to find little inlets and side stairwells that led to little hidden treasures. We eventually stumbled upon a little restaurant by the beach, and had the most AMAZING cannoli (we ate a lot of dessert during this vacay!)
The Amalfi Coast is NO doubt a place that we want to travel back to- the views are spectacular, the food incredible, and the culture so charming.
Here’s a look into our first leg of our Italy Adventure
Next stop on the blog: Rome! Can’t wait to share those adventures tomorrow…
Until then, Happy Thursday!
