Adventures in London | The London Eye

I don’t usually blog on Saturday’s…but I’m breaking that little blogging rule today to bring you some photos from our experience riding the London Eye!

For those of you who have heard me mention the London Eye, and have no idea what I’m referring to- here’s a bit of background history:

The Eye is a humongous ferris wheel that sits on the South Bank of the River Thames in Central London. Opened in celebration of the new millennium, it stands 443 ft tall- and offers an amazing 360 view of London’s skyline.

Joey and I see the London Eye most everyday in our walks around Central London- but had yet to ride this massive structure until last night! Our sweet friends, Kelly and her husband Phil, gifted us with a champagne London Eye experience for our wedding- the perfect gift for newlyweds living in the center of London!

We boarded our “experience” at 7 pm last night- just in time to time to see thriving lit up London at night! We even witnessed a proposal (I thought about taking pictures, but it was SO dark in our little pod- that it would have been impossible without my external flash!)…I share that to say- it was a very romantic experience, and one that we will always remember!

London from above is just gorgeous! Take a look at our ride on the London Eye…

Not the London Eye, but I couldn't resist Big Ben with that sunset!

What a pod looks like! Room enough for about 30 passengers- and a 360 degree view of London!

Janine - Wonderful photos! Now I’m in a quandary. Riding the London Eye has been on my bucket list since I first heard of it. And I figured I’d never get to London. BUT I’M GOING!! In just a few weeks! I’ve always pictured going during the day. But now….maybe I should go at night!? Maybe both….
