This may be one of my favorite shoots to date- not because of the location, or the light, but because of what it celebrates and the lovely people behind it.
The most rewarding part of being a wedding photographer, is being able to capture something that is such a gift from God- marriage.
I view it as such a privilege to be one who gets to witness and photograph when a couple makes that amazing commitment to each other and to God. And as a married woman myself now- I realize even more how wonderful the gift of marriage really is.
I am a firm believer that marriage only gets better with age, and that this purest form of love and commitment grows with time- and for that reason, I love anniversaries.
A few months ago, one of my closest friends, Danielle, asked if I would be willing to photograph her parents in celebration of their 30th wedding anniversary as her gift to them- my answer was OF COURSE- and we scheduled their session for the beginning of July.
Mr. and Mrs. Day first met while studying at University of Maryland- Mr. Day saw her from across the university lawn on a rainy day, and offered his umbrella- and like something straight out of a movie, the rest is history.
I’ve known these two for quite some time, and they are such a Godly example of all that marriage is intended to be..and seeing them together in the place where they first met- and being able to photograph their sweet love, was such a blessing. Those thirty years of marriage certainly do not show in their age, but it does show in the way that they interact with each other- so natural, so lovely- and such an honor to witness.
Happy 30 years to the Days! I can’t wait to photograph your 60th!
Happy Wednesday, friends!
