It’s been a while since I blogged a Weekend-Wrap Up…but since we are pretty settled in Bogota now, we actually have weekends to “wrap-up” -if you will!
The last couple weekends were spent unpacking, getting acquainted with the area, and lots of resting. Bogota sits at 8,600 ft above sea level, and the first few weeks was a bit of a rude awakening for my body….and as per normal with adjusting to a new country I got a bit sick…but I’m super happy to say that I’m well-adjusted and ready to take on this new awesome city! Now if only my Spanish would follow suit…
This past week we had the pleasure of being doggy parents for some friends traveling. We are hoping to get a dog of our very own soon- so it was awesome to play house for a little while and get used to what a schedule with a pup would look like. Lots of fetch was played and many walks were taken in our surrounding neighborhood- the perfect excuse to explore more!
I’m also happy to report that we have found an awesome church in the area- and they speak English, so that’s an added bonus for us Spanglish speakers! We are so excited to find ways to get involved and meet some new wonderful friends through our time here! Many have prayed that we would find an incredible church to plug into- and I’m so thankful that prayer was answered!
One of the coolest things that makes up a Colombian weekend is a practice observed every Sunday in Bogota called Ciclovia. From 7 am to 2 pm certain main streets in the center of the city are closed for bikers, skaters, runners, walkers, etc. So instead of taking a taxi home from church on Sunday, Joey enjoyed walking back to our place whilst observing Ciclovia! Maybe we will buy some roller blades and take full advantage of the open roads….
We are SO enjoying the mild weather (it never really gets under 55 degrees), the beautiful mountains and views, and the awesome fresh fruits and veggies! I definitely plan on blogging a bit about the fruit here- Joey and I decided that we will pick 2 tropical fruits every week to try…more on that later this week!
Enough talking…enjoy some shots from our weekend!
