Steff in the Snow | A Spontaneous Needwood Park Snow Session

I love spontaneity. Spontaneity breeds that kind of adventure that I just LOVE. Mix it in with some gorgeous falling snow and a beautiful girl? Dream come true for a photographer:)

On Sunday during the first part of our little DMV snowstorm I had that spontaneous itch- so I posted a quick little diddy on my Facebook asking if anyone wanted to model for a quick shoot in the new winter wonderland that surrounded our area. Immediately Steff jumped on the opportunity, and I’m SOOO glad she did- because I’m just in love with the results. I’ve had the pleasure of photographing Steff many times- and every single time she nails it! She’s an aspiring model- and I just can’t wait to see her take the world by storm.

Take a look…

The Ruppert Family | Portraits

Growing up in the DC area is awesome- you’ve got the nation’s capital right in your backyard- a gorgeous city- and tons of history at your fingertips…it’s pretty spectacular! But with all that- I often feel like I’m living in a bit of a concrete jungle- mostly because of crazy amounts of traffic that is 495 and 270- that often feels like home because of how much time I spend in the midst of it!

But what’s also wonderful about DC- is venture out just a bit, and you’ve got some beautiful country. And I was so thankful for the chance to do so to photograph the Ruppert Family!

They live just a few miles from my house- but it’s crazy what a few miles on some roads less traveled can do! They live on a gorgeous piece of property- so we met there to take their family photos.

The Rupperts are an incredibly beautiful family- each one of them! They are expanding with some new adorable grandkid additions- including twins!

I absolutely loved getting to know these sweet people, and spending a bit of time with them to capture some portraits!

Meet the Rupperts!

Keegan & Amy | Married | Riverside on the Potomac

Last January on Inauguration Sunday- Joey and I decided to spend the evening in Old Town Alexandria, one of our favorite spots. After some shopping- we decided to warm up in Starbucks- and it was there that one of the most serendipitous moments happened.

While sipping my warm caramel latte, Joey quietly nudged me to turn around- and there in the middle of Starbucks- we witnessed a beautiful proposal. So immersed in the romance of the moment- I completely forgot that I was a wedding photographer AND I had my camera in the car just a few blocks away- and that’s where Joey comes in:)He quickly reminded me of those two facts- and suggested I offer this gorgeous newly engaged couple a congratulatory proposal photo session- brilliant (he’s the best:)).

I introduced myself to the lovely couple, offered the session- and spent twenty minutes capturing the betrothed in the charming streets of Old Town as the sunset. I learned that Keegan and Amy’s first date was at that very Starbucks, and that they were on their way to an inaugural ball. It was the perfect night for a proposal- and I’m so glad Joey and I just happened to be in that Starbucks at the very moment!

2013-11-25_0001

Fast forward 10 months- I found myself again with my camera capturing these two pledging their love to one another in a beautiful parish. The whole story is so wonderful- and so full of serendipity.

Keegan and Amy are an amazing couple- a perfect match, and it has been such a pleasure to get to know them and call them friends!

It was an absolute honor to be able to capture a part of Keegan and Amy’s story- they are so special to me:)

Enjoy some of my favorites:)

Lindsay & Mike | Needwood Park Engagement

Ahh. Exploring is my favorite. As a very curious girl- I have been bitten by the wanderlust bug, and I love it. And being a photographer just grows the wanderlust- I hope it never stops!

I can’t wait to share this shoot with you- because not only is this couple gorgeous- they are adventurous and fun- and they explored with me!

Lindsay and Mike wanted some fall goodness for their engagement shoot so we decided to meet at Needwood Park in Derwood- a place FULL of fall-colored trees, a lake, and beautiful paths. Having grown up with Needwood in my backyard- it was a blast to use something so familiar to me in an engagement shoot:)I saw Needwood in a whole new light!

Then for the second part of this shoot- we decided to use one of my favorite secret spots- that I will keep a secret;)I have seen this spot for years, and last year Joey and I decided to explore…it’s full of mystery and it’s quite enchanting- the PERFECT spot for Mike and Lindsay as their May wedding’s theme centers around an enchanted forest!

Mike and Lindsay- thank you for being so willing to try something new in this mystery spot (aka the Mayan Ruins;)) I had such a blast photographing you two and I absolutely cannot wait for your May wedding next year!

Enjoy some of my favorites!

Model faces and awesome smiles. First few shots- I knew it was going to be an awesome shoot!

Hanson Family | Rockville Civic Center

One of the things that I love about living in this area is the changing seasons- there is unique beauty in each one, and as a photographer- it’s a joy to capture different backdrops for couples and families. But with the changing seasons- also comes unpredictable weather- which sometimes can be a good surprise on those indian summer days- I LOVE those surprises in the weather! But then there are those times when the forecast calls for the most beautiful of days- and it actually brings a downpour… kinda tricky to deal with as someone who depends on that natural light and the great outdoors!

This was totally the case multiple days for this beautiful family I’m about to introduce you to. We tried several different days, with rain in the forecast- and as soon as we finally met with a promising forecast- it started to rain. Ah! But knowing Maryland’s changing weather personality, we waited it out a bit- and alas! Finally beautiful clear skies, and wonderful light!

I originally met this family last year in Annapolis for a chilly winter shoot, so this year we took advantage of the fall season! We trekked around the Rockville Civic Center- and found some awesome spots- stone walls, a beautiful mansion, and some fall colors:)I loved my time with this wonderful family!
