Cayla & Alex | Frederick County Fair Engagement

I have always loved carnivals and the adventurous atmosphere it brings. I love the bright colors, the night lights, the infectious laughter heard from the rides, the terribly bad for you but oh so yummy food…the list really could go on and on.

When I started the process of rebranding- I knew that I wanted a central element to be adventure- the kind of adventure that breeds playfulness, joy, and wonder. I decided I needed a shoot to showcase this vision- so I advertised that I was hosting two free couple’s sessions at the local county fair. I encouraged the couples to dress in playful fifties retro garb- we planned the dates and times, and wah-lah- a dream came to life!

Alex and Cayla were one of the two lovely couples that I had the absolute pleasure to photograph. Cayla showed up in the most adorable A-line dress, and Alex with a blue bow-tie to match. We found so many bright and colorful spots to shoot- my favorite being the ferris wheel! I was able to snag a seat in the cart above Alex and Cayla and capture their sweet ferris wheel ride! I loved getting to know this sweet couple- and love the images that came as a result!

Enjoy some of my favorites!

TJ & Nicole | Sandy Point State Park Engagement

Today’s shoot comes to you from a pretty atypical location during these fall months- the beach! And I’m so excited this sweet couple I’m about to introduce you to chose this awesome location!

TJ and Nicole had originally thought of maybe doing an Annapolis wedding, but upon finding the perfect venue elsewhere, they decided to have the best of both worlds by having their engagement pictures in Annapolis! Perfect!

I met TJ and Nicole at Sandy Point State Park- and the weather was perfect- clear skies, glowing light, and a gorgeous sunset with the Bay Bridge as our backdrop. So. Wonderful.

These two also brought their adorable dog, Kira, to be in the shoot. Kira was awesome- she even sat still enough for a ring shot on her cute little nose!

TJ and Nicole are getting married next May, and I am so excited to photograph their big day! These two are the sweetest- the kind of people that within minutes of meeting them- they are instant friends. TJ and Nicole- I had SO much fun with you two at Sandy Point- your wedding is going to be wonderful:)

Enjoy some of my favorites from TJ and Nicole’s engagement!

Upcoming: My First Styled Shoot

When I first entered the wedding photography business, I often heard the term “styled shoot”. I remember watching Jasmine Star on Creative Live, and finally understanding what it means to host one of these “styled shoots”.

For those of you who are not photographers, a styled shoot is basically a way of teaming up with vendors within the wedding business community (or any other photography related community) to pull together a mock wedding or engagement shoot in a completely custom styled way. It’s an amazing way to meet other vendors within the industry, as well as make any vision you have as a photographer come to life.

So for the past couple of months, I have been working to pull together a vision for a styled shoot occurring next Saturday! I am teaming up with some wonderful vendors from literally around the country to pull this together, and I’m very excited!

I have always been drawn to all things vintage and rustic- there’s a certain unique romance that comes with the older eras- so I wanted my shoot to center around that classic old-time romance.

I’ve always believed that love and adventure go together. Seeking new experiences with the ones we love breeds excitement, joy, and lasting memories. So I finally decided upon my theme for this styled shoot to be “A Vintage Road Trip.” It’s been so much fun pulling together all the different elements through pinterest pinnings and then finding vendors to make the pinnings come to life!

Next Saturday is going to be going to be one exciting day! I’ll leave you with my pinnings that inspired the theme of this shoot:)Check back to see “A Vintage Road Trip” come to life!

Megan & Brian | Wedding | Gaithersburg, Maryland

This blog post comes to you from from a fantastically fun wedding in late July. I’ve shared it on facebook and such- but I’m excited to finally share the whole day with you in blog form!

Megan and Brian originally met as youngins through family friends, but it wasn’t until they were introduced again years later through mutual friends that they fell in love. A re-meeting? I call that fate:)

These two are SUCH a FUN couple- they are truly best friends that fell in love. I remember when I first photographed the two of them for their engagement session, laughing the whole way through, and thinking about how cool their love was. Marrying your best friend IS the best.

Megan and Brian’s day was SO colorful and an absolute blast to capture. They chose navy blue with a pop of pink (Brian’s decision!) to color their day- and decided to take their portraits at the bank-shot basketball court at King Farm! It was such a unique spot for portraits, and ended up fitting so perfectly with their color scheme and overall fun wedding and with so many mutual friends between the two of them, it was one big happy family party!

Here’s a glimpse into Megan and Brian’s big day:
